Tablatures in Space
This composition will use fifty-five acoustic Guitars distributed in a large space, following a topographic/harmonic plan. Many will be hanging from variable heights, and will be able to swing with a variable amplitude of movement. The model of the traditional concert is here foresaken in order to explore an different kind of interaction between music, performers, audience and space. Guitars will be tuned according to a microtonal tuning scheme. Each one will have a unique tuning, and some of them will require non-conventional sets of strings. On this “spatialized orchestra of transfigured guitars” of sorts, an ensemble of musicians will perform Tablatures in space, a sixty-minutes-long piece.
